Welcome to my website. I am a marine ecologist working on tropical and temperate reef systems. The main emphasis of my research is to recognize causes of variation in the distribution, abundance and dynamics of organisms, with the view of better understanding and predicting their spatial patterns.

My focus is in quantitative ecology and research questions that are well grounded in ecological theory. Whenever possible, I place particular emphasis on approaches that integrate manipulative field experiments, observational studies and modeling.

Research Interests
-    The roles of competition, predation and habitat structure in determining population and       community dynamics
-    The implications of size and stage-structured interactions for population dynamics
-    Variation in interaction strengths (e.g., competition) among organisms and environments

Currently, I am working as a post-doctoral fellow at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. The primary emphasis of this work is to evaluate the ecological effects of commercially harvesting bladder kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) - see Current Research.
